The 'minivib' is a high fidelity, controllable, vibratory seismic source developed for geophysical surveys. It is capable of generating a frequency modulated signal in the range of 10 to 500 Hz. It has been designed for high resolution surveys. Among its many features are the following.
1. The 'minivib' is an environmentally "soft" source which spreads its energy out in time.
2. A computer based controller allows the 'minivib' to generate sophisticated signals. This includes linear, non-linear, and segmented sweeps.
3. Since the source signal can be changed, it can be optimized on sight for both the survey's geology and objectives.
4. The 'minivib' can generate signals in a frequency range of up to 5.8 Octaves.
5. With the shearwave option the 'minivib' can generate shearwaves.
